INDIANAPOLIS — Auburn cornerback Nehemiah Pritchett is a projected Day 2 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, which means he could be on the board when the Tennessee Titans make their fourth-round selection with the 106th pick.

Playing cornerback in the SEC gets athletes used to competing against future pros, and Pritchett is no exception. He played in a secondary that has sent several guys to the NFL, including Tennessee cornerback Roger McCreary.

Pritchett and McCreary both grew up near Mobile, Ala., with McCreary serving as a mentor during their high school days and their time playing for Auburn. McCreary graduated high school in 2017, Pritchett in 2019. The pair played three seasons as teammates before the Titans drafted McCreary in the 2022 NFL Draft with the 35th pick."

"I played against him in high school," Pritchett said. "He was a guy I looked up to because he was so talented. He's a quiet guy, but he's helped me a lot and is an incredible competitor."

Pritchett had 115 total tackles, five and a half tackles for losses, a forced fumble, 24 passes defended, and three interceptions during his career at Auburn. Last season, opposing quarterbacks had a 54.8 rating when targeting Pritchett.

Pritchett hopes to follow in the footsteps of players like McCreary, a top-20 cornerback in 2023 according to Pro Football Focus.

"Seeing him do well is inspiring," Pritchett said. "It's motivation for me to see him come up from the same area as me and have success. He gave me a lot of tips about the process and I'm looking forward to showing my skills."

Defensive backs will do the 40-yard dash, 225-pound bench press, and field drills on Friday at Lucas Oil Stadium.
