Keyshawn Johnson rips Chiefs' Rashee Rice over vehicle crash

Retired wide receiver and current NFL analyst Keyshawn Johnson blasted Kansas City Chiefs wideout Rashee Rice after a speeding vehicle registered or leased to Rice was involved in a multi-car collision on a Dallas highway this past Saturday.

"First of all, this is unfortunate for Rashee because I know him and he’s old enough to know better," Johnson said during an appearance on the FS1 "Undisputed" program, per Ryan Gaydos of Fox News Digital. "So, I’m p----- at him. I’ve already texted him. He’s not gonna respond to me because my text was not nice. I spent plenty of time with him last year before the draft, doing the draft process, the whole thing here in Los Angeles, and in Dallas as well, to get him to understand that life is getting ready to start."

As shared by ESPN, Rice's attorney revealed on Monday that the 23-year-old "is cooperating with local authorities and will take all necessary steps to address this situation responsibly." According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, an attorney representing the company that owns the car leased to Rice said the receiver never had "any driving citations or accidents" related to the "several" vehicles Rice has rented. 

"Coming out into the draft, he had a little red flag here, little red flag there," Johnson added about Rice. "He wasn’t the squeakiest, cleanest guy going, which is probably why he fell to the second round instead of the late first. Went into a great situation in Kansas City – a great environment. They know how to handle situations that may be a little rocky coming in."

Per Donald Kolakowski of Opta Analyst, Rice set a playoff rookie record with 26 receptions while helping the Chiefs win Super Bowl LVIII. As Johnson alluded to, it's unclear if Rice was driving the car involved in the chain-reaction crash that left one person hospitalized a day after the incident. 

"But if he’s involved in it, it’s the stupidest thing that he could ever be involved in," Johnson continued. "Let alone driving fast cars, and racing somebody is the stupidest thing ever, man."
